Emily and Shaun - The Barn at Upcote
I have to admit that I had been looking forward to Emily and Shaun’s wedding day all year. It was to be my first wedding at The Barn at Upcote and I was excited to see what photographic opportunities awaited me.
I started the day at Emily’s Mum’s house in Swindon where I had been asked to document the hair and make-up. From there, we all (myself, the videographers and the bridal party) headed on to Emily’s grandparents house in Cricklade for some photos in the garden. It was then onto the church where I caught up with Shaun before the ceremony. It was an emotional, family-filled ceremony taking place in the same Church where Emily’s sister had got married only a couple of years previously.
After braving the confetti run, there was just time for the newlyweds to have a glass of champagne before we all headed out to The Barn at Upcote for the reception.
I’m not sure what I was expecting but the barn was definitely larger than I had anticipated. I was also allowed to have a quick look in the “Secret Garden” although we decided that it was perhaps a little too muddy for Emily to venture over there in her beautiful dress for photos! Instead, we made the most of the last of the colour in the courtyard for some couples portraits before everyone took their seats for the wedding breakfast where Shaun’s sister acted as Toastmaster.
I always love documenting the speeches and this wedding was no different - I was presented with a number of great reactions across the three speeches which contained a number of entertaining stories and also a thank-you for my services (always HUGELY appreciated!).
It was then time to cut the cake before Emily and Shaun started the evening celebrations with their first dance. It didn’t take long before the party was in full swing so after capturing some of the epic dance moves on the dancefloor, I said my goodbyes and left them to their celebrations.
