About Me

LETS GO BACK TO THE

start

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when my journey with photography began because, honestly, I don’t remember a time when I didn’t have a camera in my hands! As a child, I must have cost my parents a small fortune in film developing, snapping away with my little point-and-shoot camera. But everything changed when, for my 16th birthday, they surprised me with a second-hand Minolta SLR. Suddenly, photography became about creating something special.

My Dad, an eager amateur photographer, made sure I understood the magic of shutter speed and aperture so I wouldn’t waste too many frames. Looking back, I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I’d studied photography formally. But at the time, my world revolved around music - so much so that by 15, the path to studying photography at school had already closed.

Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions, let’s go back to the start

THE ROAD LESS EXPECTED (AND A WHOLE LOT OF MUD!)

Instead of photography, my academic journey took me deep into the world of science. I studied Earth Science, earned a Masters degree in Micropalaeontology (yes, really!), and even started a PhD in Dublin. My studies took me from Plymouth to London, Dublin, and even New Zealand. But no matter where I went, photography always followed.

Music also remained a huge part of my life. I was constantly attending gigs, discovering new artists, and - of course - bringing my camera along. Back then, camera phones weren’t really a thing, so I was often one of the only people capturing these moments. And then, something amazing happened…

It’s in my roots, in my veins, it’s in my blood

FROM CONCERT CROWDS TO ROCK STARS

In 2005, I stumbled across a song called High by a (then unknown) artist called James Blunt! That one song sent me down a path of attending more concerts, making lifelong friends, and - eventually - getting noticed for my photography. The big break? I was invited to photograph Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 Christmas Party and, just like that, I went from gig-goer to rockstar photographer!

Before I knew it, I was photographing some of the biggest names in the music industry - The Manic Street Preachers, Muse, Bon Jovi, Elbow, Coldplay, Taylor Swift… the list goes on! What started as a passion became a career, and suddenly, I was traveling across the country, living my dream.

But here’s the thing about dreams - they don’t always look the way you imagined. While it was exhilarating, music photography was also relentless. I was no longer there to enjoy the music, I was there to work. I’d find myself tucked away in the sound booth, editing furiously so images could be published before the concert even ended. I’d get home at 2am, completely exhausted - it was an incredible time, but it wasn’t sustainable.

Beautiful dawn, melt with the stars again. Do you remember the day when my journey began?

AND SO THE STORY CONTINUES

Alongside music photography, I had started photographing weddings and that’s where I found something truly special. Yes, wedding days are long and tiring, but they are also filled with real, beautiful emotions. There’s nothing quite like capturing the joy, love, and little unscripted moments that make a wedding day unforgettable.

Over the years, I’ve felt overwhelmingly privileged to be a part of so many couples’ stories. Now, weddings are my primary focus, and I love documenting those once-in-a-lifetime moments. That’s not to say music is completely behind me - I still jump at the chance to take on the occasional music shoot whenever I can.

My photography has evolved, but one thing has never changed - my love for storytelling. Whether I’m capturing the emotion of a first dance, the nerves before a ceremony, or the pure joy of a confetti throw, my approach is always the same: natural, unobtrusive, and real. I blend into the background so that you can focus on enjoying the moment.

I am now based in Wiltshire where I get to explore the beautiful countryside (often with my twin nieces who always keep me entertained!). And if you’re wondering - no - I never did finish my PhD! Walking away was the hardest decision I’ve ever made, but looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.

The world is in your hands. The world belongs to those of us who still believe we can.
