Old Bell, Malmesbury - Lizzie and Tom

Lizzie and Tom were married on a bright, sunny day in February at the Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury. Despite being a little chilly, it was such a beautiful day with bright blue skies greeting me as I arrived to capture Lizzie’s preparations.

It’s been a number of years since I was last at the Old Bell Hotel and, since then, it has changed hands and undergone a bit of a revamp. I was therefore intrigued to see the changes that had been made and really excited to photograph my first wedding there.

I first headed upstairs to find Lizzie and her bridesmaids - preparations were already in full swing with an excited atmosphere of anticipation and the prosecco starting to flow. It wasn’t long before the ladies spied Tom and his best man arriving so I took the chance to dash outside to grab a few photos before checking out the celebration room and all of the beautiful flowers that had already been installed.

With the guests starting to arrive, I headed back upstairs to capture Lizzie’s final preparations before taking my place ready for the ceremony. It was a beautiful ceremony with a very moving reading and quite a few happy tears being shed. From there, we immediately headed outside for the confetti throw where I actually struggled a little because it was so darn bright (not something I often say for February weddings!). The majority of the guests then retreated back inside to enjoy some amazing canapés (mini-burgers for the win!) and listen to some wonderful piano music.

Lizzie and Tom had requested mainly candid and documentary coverage of their day so I busied myself mingling with the guests and capturing lots of interactions, happy smiles and laughter between the few formal photos that they had asked for.

The theme for their reception was “skiing” cleverly brought to life by their table names (ski runs), table plan (ski lifts) and their amazing cake (tree lined mountains). After their meal and speeches it was then time for the evening party which started with the cutting of the cake, the first dance and quickly led to a dance floor full of revellers!

It was such a lovely, relaxed and beautiful day and I really enjoyed documenting it! Below you will find a very small selection of the many, many photographs that I took! I feel very strongly that the happy couple have complete control over who views all of their wedding images so if you would like to view the full gallery please contact Lizzie or Tom for access!
