Lily and Paul - Grittleton House

Lily and Paul were yet another couple who had been forced to postpone their wedding celebrations from 2020. As it turned out, their wedding was the first one that I had photographed since all restrictions were lifted which meant that there was no limit on the number of guests that could attend, face masks weren’t required and, at long last, dancing was finally allowed!

Unfortunately, Covid wasn’t completely out of the picture simply because it meant that some guests were unable to attend, not least Lily’s sister who I was excited to see join the bridal prep via FaceTime! But, all things considered it was really lovely to be able to watch close family members able to hug once again!

The ceremony itself took place in the picturesque Red Gallery - a first for me (and apparently, one of the first ceremonies in that room for Grittleton also). It made a beautiful backdrop and was set off perfectly by the floral arrangements by The Floral Studio.

The guests were then able to enjoy the drinks reception in the surroundings of the Orangery and, thankfully, with the sweltering weather of the previous week having eased, take in the beautiful gardens.

The rest of the day swept by in a flash of formal photos, speeches, even more hugs and amazing food and culminated in the cutting of the cake (complete with a bespoke topper depicting the Bride and Groom) and the first dance. Photographing the dancing in the evening, I have to admit that I got quite emotional when it suddenly dawned on me that this was the first wedding where unrestricted dancing had been allowed since March 2020! What a thought!

Congratulations Lily and Paul, I am so glad that you were finally able to have your special day!
