Combe Manor Barns Wedding Photography - Lucy and Luke

Lucy and Luke booked me for their wedding at Combe Manor Barns after I photographed their friends wedding last year - in fact, the Groom from that wedding was to be one of Luke’s Best Men. I always love it when I get to reconnect with guests from a previous wedding and it also puts me a little more at ease knowing that the couple know exactly how I approach a wedding day. It means they are booking me because they know I’m exactly the right person for their celebration.

Lucy had opted not to have any getting ready photos but she had specifically asked for a photograph of her coming down the stairs. I was more than happy to spend some time grabbing detail photos of the venue and photographing the guests arriving before heading over to the house to photograph Lucy make her way over to the barn with her Dad and bridesmaids.

The weather was changeable to say the least and so umbrellas were never too far from reach. Thankfully, the showers abated in time for Lucy to make her entrance and stayed at bay once the ceremony was over.

The ceremony itself was emotional and, in a change from most weddings, Lucy and Luke opted to cut their cake immediately after the ceremony before we all headed outside for confetti.

In another personal touch (and due to the fact that they are Young Farmers), the confetti was preceded by a pitchfork guard of honour - a first for me I believe and definitely a lovely little celebration for the newlyweds.

It was my first time at Combe Manor Barns but I immediately fell in love with the amazing views! And with such lovely scenery, it would have been a shame not to utilise it as a backdrop for many of the group photos. We also used it for a number of the couples portraits before heading up to the house for some more photos. This is when we also attempted the second photo request that I received from Lucy - a photo in the Church with the bell ropes (I should probably say that Lucy is a bell ringer and has been teaching Luke too).

It was then time for tea and cake (hence the cutting of the cake immediately after the ceremony) before the speeches commenced. It was during the speeches that I found out that Luke as well as a couple of friends had spent a number of months in New Zealand working on a farm in the Wairarapa - literally two towns over from where I spent most of my time in New Zealand last year! What a small world!

And so, before I knew it, my job was done. Lucy and Luke had chosen not to include their evening celebrations in their photography package and so I said my goodbyes and headed off to dodge the rain on my drive home.
