Rasheda and George - A Tipi Wedding near Bath

As soon as Rasheda said those magic words “it’s a Tipi wedding in a field” I was sold! I always love celebrations like this - they are so relaxed with a real family feel and that was certainly the case for this wedding.

Taking place in a field owned by George’s parents, which Rasheda and George had kindly showed me during their pre-wed shoot (although at that point it was occupied by goats and chickens!) it felt as though every single guest had pitched in to help in some way. From helping to decorate the Tipi, to creating the cake, from setting up the sound system to carrying crates of alcohol and so much more. There was a real family/community feel throughout the entire day.

On the morning of the wedding, I apprehensively checked the weather forecast to see that thunderstorms were predicted for the entire afternoon! It’s the one thing that you can’t control so I packed my wellies, umbrella and raincoat just in case. Thankfully, apart from some light rain showers (predominantly during the time of the ceremony), the thunderstorms never materialised and everyone was able to enjoy the Tipi and surroundings. We even had some sunshine which just made the amazing backdrop even more picturesque!

Unfortunately, Rasheda’s Mum and sister could not make the wedding due to having to isolate. There were also various family members from overseas who were unable to attend for obvious reasons. It was such a shame but steps were taken to ensure that they were all included as much as possible. During the ceremony a large screen was placed at the front of the Church so that they could all watch a live stream of events from the comfort of their homes. And then, during the reception, the screen was set up so that the happy couple (as well as the guests) could go and chat to their relatives throughout the afternoon.

It was definitely a day to remember - the dogs in their tuxedo bibs, the reggae band and a very helpful (and loudly-singing) vicar all helped to make the day unique and special!
