Liz and Martyn - Syrencot

After a number of postponements, Liz and Martyn were finally married at St Mary the Virgin Church in Bishops Cannings followed by a reception at the beautiful Syrencot. This was my first time shooting a wedding at Syrencot and it didn’t disappoint!

Eager to have as much of the day documented as possible, Liz and Martyn had requested a second photographer and had also booked two videographers to ensure that both of their morning preparations were captured. Thankfully, Nick Spratling was available to help me out so while he headed across to photograph Martyn getting ready, I headed straight to Syrencot to catch up with Liz and all of her bridesmaids.

We reconvened at the Church in Bishops Cannings where Nick had been busy capturing photographs of the guests arriving. Chatting to Liz and Martyn ahead of time, we had discovered that Nick and myself had already worked with the Vicar only a few weeks previously so I knew that there would be no issues regarding where we could stand etc… (in fact, I knew that this Vicar would likely want to jump into a few formal photos himself which, of course, he later did!).

It was a beautiful service and, afterwards, the weather was kind enough to allow us the chance to capture lots of lovely formal photographs in the churchyard.

After picking up our “travel bags” (a very welcome idea to give all of the guests and suppliers a snack and drink for the trip) we headed en masse back to Syrencot for the reception.

Having two photographers is a huge advantage when you have lots of different things going on during the day. With Liz and Martyn wanting a few posed shots in front of Syrencot house with their cars and also with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, I could rest easy in the knowledge that Nick was busy capturing details of the reception room as well as lots of candid shots of the guests enjoying the drinks reception.

Between us, we managed to capture some amazing memories, lots of details and many spontaneous moments that may have otherwise been missed.

After enjoying the wonderful weather and the beautiful gardens with some tasty canapés and delicious drinks, it was time for the wedding breakfast. The reception room at Syrencot is pretty spectacular! I particularly love the huge lights that extend down the length of the room - they definitely make an impact!

Following the (very delicious!) wedding banquet, the guests were treated to some theatrics in the form of some dried ice during their pre-dessert which was pretty spectacular to watch - after which it was time for the speeches which were at times, both funny and emotional.

In fact, it was a pretty emotional day from start to finish. I feel like I have been on a big journey with Liz and Martyn, from their initial consultation through to their postponements and pre-wedding photoshoots and finally to their big day as well as the editing process afterwards.

I am so glad that myself and Nick were able to capture so many special moments for them to look back on. You will find a very small selection of images in this blog post - to view the full gallery, please head here (the password can be obtained from Liz or Martyn).
